Children's Dept.

Good morning,
I hope everyone had a great Christmas, I know my family and I did, however I ate to much.
Just a reminder that we will be closing at 12:00 p.m. Monday, December 31st and will not reopen until Wednesday, January 2, 2008.
It is hard to believe that 2007 is almost over and 2008 is around the corner. We are plan exciting programs for the Children's Department. Keep watching Story Land's blog for details as the events get closer.

RIF

The Perry Carnegie Library has been recognized by the Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) program as the longest-running program in the state of Oklahoma. Our RIF program was started in 1977 by Mrs. Emma Dearborn, well-known teacher and library board member.

Santa Claus is Coming





Children of all ages! Santa Claus is coming to the Perry Carnegie Library for storytime on December 18th & 19th, at 10:00 a.m. He will read a Christmas story and visit with the kids.
Everyone is invited to attend either day.

Storytime 2008

Good morning everyone,

December 18th & 19th is our last week of storytime for the year. Storytime will start again on January 8th. The spring sign-up sheets are at my desk. We look forward to seeing everyone at story time in January.

PCL Resumes Normal Hours of Operation

Conditions have improved enough that the City of Perry, including the Library, resume normal operating hours today.

We would like to extend our condolences to those who have suffered losses during this trying time, and our warm wishes to everyone in the state of Oklahoma for a speedy recovery.

PCL Closed Today Due To Ice Storm

Perry Carnegie Library is closed today due to the ice storm that is gripping much of the state of Oklahoma. Our City Hall is also closed today, as well as the local public school system.

Based on our understanding of the weather situation later tonight, City Manager Roy Rainey will decide the status of city offices for tomorrow. For the library's status, keep checking here. For other city offices, please monitor your local news outlets as well as official communications from City administration.

Hannah Montana

GIRLS!
The Children's Department has two new Hannah Montana CDs. The CDs are ready for check out!

Santa Claus

Children of all ages Santa Claus is coming to the library. He will visit us during our storytime December 18th & 19th from 10:00 - ?. Everyone is welcome to come and visit.

Storytime

Our last week of Fall Storytime is December 18th 7 19th. Winter/Spring Storytime will begin January 8th - 2 year olds and January 9th - 3 & 4 year olds. Sign up date will be coming in December.

Christmas @the library

Good Morning,
"It is beginning to look alot like Christmas"- as the song goes. The library is getting ready for the Tour of Homes on Sunday, December 9th. The children's area is decked out in its Christmas best.

Thank you, goes to the Friends of the Library for helping Miss Linda with decorating the area. Check out upstairs the Friends of the Library did all the decorating.

We have a large selection of Christmas books and movies to check out.

Vacation Dates

Good Afternoon,
The library will be closed Monday, November 12th & Friday, November 16th.
I will be on vacation during that week. I have asked Miss Diana to do story time on Tuesday, Ms. Gloria & Ms. Ann will do story time on Wednesday.
No story time the week of Thanksgiving.
I will see everyone Monday, November 26th.

BASIC Training

On Tuesday, November 6th, I will be in Pawhuska all day for BASIC Training. Miss Diana to do Storytime for me.

Welcome to Story Land

Welcome to Miss Linda's Story Land.
I would like to introduce myself, I'm Miss Linda (Branson) and I'm the new Children's Librarian.
I have lived in Perry most of my life. My husband and I have two daughters and the proud grandparents of three grandchildren. I have an Associate Degree in Early Children Development from Northern Oklahoma College, and slowly working toward a BA in the same field.
I have some new ideas and programs coming in the future for the Children's Department.

New Book List

Good afternoon,
Check out our new Children's Book List. The list contains of new fun and exciting books to read, DVD's to watch, and CD's to listen too.

RIF Distribution

Our first RIF Distribution was a huge success. I would like to thank the Friends of the Library for their help. Close to a 1,000 books was recently handed out to children at a local daycare, Head Start, home schoolers, and the public school system. The next distribution will be in January 2008.

Perry Carnegie Library will be closed the following dates in November:

November 12, 2007 - Veteran's Day (Observed)

November 16, 2007 - Oklahoma Statehood Day

November 22 - 25, 2007 - Thanksgiving

This schedule means we will have three "long weekends" in November. Also, please remember that even though we do not make items due on closed dates, you can still drop your materials into the book drop.
